Tertiary sedimentary stratigraphy of Phu Khanh basin on the Vietnam continental shelf
Abstract
Based on the integrated geological-geophysical data accumulated after many years of petroleum exploration in the region and especially supplementary well analysis data, the stratigraphy columns of Phu Khanh basin have been established for the first time and five new formations have been named, including Oligocene - Eocene?, Phu Yen (N11py), Phu Khanh (N12pk), Khanh Hoa (N13kh), and Bien Dong (N2-Qbd) with different biostratigraphical, lithostratigraphical and seismic stratigraphy characteristics, thus clarifying the geological development process of the basin to facilitate petroleum prospecting and exploration activities in the region.
